WELCOME TO THE COMMUNICATIONS BRANCH

We have decades of experience in the real communications world - media strategies, marketing, strategic communications, publications, PR, profiles, the internet, sponsorships, conferences and much more.

We are also joined by innovative graphic designers, web designers, writers, editors and others to offer a complete communications package for businesses and individuals.

Sue McKenna - Director

Sue McKenna has more than 30 years' experience in journalism, marketing, publications, speech writing and creating communications strategies, with particular expertise in environmental issues.

She began her career as a journalist working for major metropolitan newspapers and won several national awards for writing. She became a media consultant and communications advisor for national and state organisations, working on political and private project launches.

Skills include media advice and the ability to effectively coordinate publications from the writing to the printing stage. She is able to organise and promote conferences, develop mailing lists and implement long-term communications strategies from the ground up.

She has worked on senior political and other postings, including a Royal Commission, and regularly liaises with senior journalists across the country on sensitive political matters.

The ability to coordinate and transform an organisation's strands of information into streamlined communications strategies is another of her skills. By consolidating her experience from small and large organisations she is able to create innovative communication actions that are guaranteed to reach the public, staff and stakeholders.

She believes in 'public good' work, has joined Rotary and liaises with the Western Australian Marine Science Institution as communications advisor and media consultant.

She has also contracted in media and publications at the Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation.

Kerry Hodson - Associate

Kerry Hodson chose journalism as a new career path seven years ago and has worked during that time as a journalist for a mainstream newspaper and for a science website.

Her experience includes employment within executive government and in children's sporting areas. She also has an interest in the arts.

Recently she has worked as a communications consultant in the mining, government and conference sectors, writing media releases, speeches, company newsletters, corporate presentations, website content, fact sheets and other information based documents.

She is a skilled science communicator at an exciting time for local, Australian and global science, with powerful communication technologies empowering national and international collaborative projects.

Great things are possible in the scientific field, as in others. Kerry's ability to research and transform complex information into media- and reader-friendly communication is an essential skill that will ensure your organisation communicates with mainstream media, and with stakeholders, staff and customers in a co-ordinated, impactful way.
